A small, shabby bar in the deep south of Italy. A group of men play Padrone e sotto, an archaic drinking game. The film looks into a closed society of residents of a structurally weak region and becomes a sociogram that is exploring universal power mechanisms.

Rheinsberg

Kurt Hoffmann's film adaptation of Tucholsky's eponymous novella is situated in 1910s Berlin: The aspiring editor Wolf runs into Claire by chance. Both are attracted to one another, yet they are not entirely certain about their feelings. They embark on a trip to Rheinsberg to assure themselves about their sentiments. And indeed, the time spent in the romantic provincial town brings clarity to their situation.

The Letter

In a refugee camp in Bosnia, while a group of boys is playing ball, the one-legged Enes, accidentally breaks his crutch. His friend Ado decides to help him, as now the immobile Enes is completely dependable on others. They write a request to the United Nations asking to help them get a new crutch.

Kindil

During a beach excursion, Nfissa, a young mother, is violently sexually harassed and drowned by a group of young men after she absent-mindedly swims into their midst. Nobody seems to witness her disappearance. Anxiety and fear grow among her family, especially as, on the same beach, bathers suddenly start dying en masse.

BANDITS (2003) retraces the roots of the escapade of a group of Georgians in their twenties who hijacked an Aeroflot passenger plane on November 18, 1983 from Tbilisi.

On making contact with the liquid, the roll opens and of Its own accord frees itself of the gesture that fashioned it.
