Bad Company

It is 1980. Sadatomo is at a secondary school in a small town. His parents barely take any notice of him. The strict teacher Kobayashi has hung up a 'humanity index' in the classroom, divided into the categories 'delinquents', 'scum' and 'people'. In each category he has hung name-cards of pupils. One day Kobayashi finds out that Sadatomo and his friends have stolen some things from a shop for fun. Their fathers are informed and as punishment, the children have to write a 'self-critical' essay of no less than thirty pages. For the first time, Sadatomo is beaten by his father. Shocked, he writes a piece entitled 'I am an onion', in which the teacher thinks he can detect a first sign of humanity. That is the start of a confusing situation in which it gets hard to distinguish lies, truth, justified self-criticism and opportunist wheeler dealing, even for the boys.

Chico wakes up on his 30th birthday to the sound of his girlfriend singing “Happy Birthday” to him on his answering machine. When João wakes up in bed next to him, he realizes that this is not his typical birthday.

Alì Babà e i pirati

Director Zlata Potancokova Belli is behind this engaging, colorful animated tale. The story follows young Ali Baba who, with his little sister, embarks on a seafaring journey in search of his missing father and brother. Aboard a huge ship owned by the Sultan, they are hit by a tremendous and violent storm, and end up shipwrecked on a desert island.

Cairo Time

Hazem is a young drug dealer on the run from Alexandria to Cairo and picks up an old man with Alzheimer's disease. The six characters find themselves at decisive points of their lives, which although disparate, are brought together by destiny, and are brought out through pitch-perfect performances by Egyptian cinema's legends.
